Your Name And Address Senator/ Congressman xxxxxxx xxxxxxx Letter Date United States Senate/ House of Representatives Washington, DC 20510 Dear Senator / Congressman xxxxxx, Thank you for swearing to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. I deeply respect the effort you are making and your willingness to serve your country and your constituents. I presume that you want what is best for America. Sadly, I am greatly disappointed in the method you are using to represent me and the rest of your constituents. You have calmly spoken out against liberalism but your voice has gone unheard. You have said you cannot exert influence because you are in a minority position. You write me or tell me that you are deliberative and discerning, implying that you calmly weigh the pros and cons of each decision you make. My friends, you are not what you may think you are and you are not doing what you should be doing. You and your fellow members are part time representatives, not elected elites. Whether you like it or not, you either appear smug or aloof, and absolutely too calm, and I think you will discover that the party officials who say they can deliver the votes in the next primary may be unreliable. You have on occasion alienated many of your supporters. Because you rationalize your votes in name of compromise, you fail conservatives, the Republican Party, America and our children. You may be able to change our perception however. You can be very loud and be involved in things that garner attention. You will need to rally as many other conservatives in Congress to do the same thing. In essence, you, as conservatives in Congress, can have your own “tea parties.” You can parade through the Capital and carry signs in front of the White House. You can be a guest on a talk show every single day somewhere. Why not have a brown-bag lunch as a group on the Capital steps or out on the grass, just make sure there are no white table cloths and such. Why not wear jeans and a pro-life t-shirt to your next session? Finally, don’t even begin to worry about “grandstanding” or appearing silly, you are a politician; that is what you do best. Make it count for a change. Don’t fall victim to the Bill Ayers playbook, be a Joe Wilson and stand proud and stand firm. Listen, right now is not the time to worry about being dignified or appearing deliberative. Mr. Reid, Mrs. Pelosi, and Mr. Obama have eliminated any need for that. Now is the time to fight for this nation’s survival. It’s time to be men, either stand and fight, or get out of the way and make room for someone that will. With kindest regards, your friend and constituent, Your name
